Aware of the environment in which we offer our activities, its beauty but also its great fragility, we launched an environmental certification process in 2013 and have been ISO 14001 certified since 2016.
The application of this desire is reflected in taking the environment into account in our way of working, monitoring and then reducing our impact, being supported by experts in order to refine our challenges when we are not qualified to do so, and monitoring and helping our subcontractors when they work on the station.
Our goal is to make this integration a corporate culture and to gradually pass it on to all the participants who come to visit our wonderful playgrounds and discovery areas.
Starting in winter 2020, a new type of marker will appear, signaling the proximity of a refuge area for protected species that have been identified on the estate. We want each of these areas to be identifiable to allow everyone to avoid them and thus allow biodiversity to flourish.
This small animal is deliberately imaginary (a cross between different species), its role is to be the standard-bearer for all species, without distinction, so as not to encourage research and the embarrassment of a particular species.
We thank you for respecting the peace and quiet of these areas.
There are two reasons for differentiating species and classifying some of them as protected species:
– The species is threatened (small population, difficulty reproducing, rare natural environment, etc.)
– The species is an 'umbrella species': Protecting this species and its habitat helps protect the habitat and the entire ecosystem that supports a large number of other species.
Several protected species of flora and fauna have been identified in the wider geographical area of the ski area.
Indeed, when we plan developments, inventories of fauna and flora are carried out by specialists, allowing us to know the animals and plants present and to map the areas where they live. This allows us to adapt our projects to the protection and conservation of this entire ecosystem.
As protected species, we find, for example:
One of the most discreet and emblematic birds of the Pyrenees, it is present throughout the Ax 3 Domaines ski resort. The capercaillie is currently being monitored in our region by specialists (Mountain Observatory) in order to monitor the evolution of its numbers and its behavior.
This nocturnal bird of prey is quite difficult to observe, although its "surprised" gaze is one of its characteristics. It is a protected species at European level. Scientific monitoring is being conducted in Ax 3 areas to analyze the threats to the disappearance of its habitat (coniferous forest).
Its name sounds a little scary, but it is a very rare moss because its habitat is increasingly rare: Old coniferous forest. It benefits from national protection and compensatory measures in the event of degradation of its environment.
Carnivorous plants exist! But they don't eat children like in cartoons. This is a small plant found in wetlands, particularly acidic peat bogs. It is protected throughout France.
The most emblematic species of the Pyrenees with its horns and black coat in winter. It can be observed throughout the Pyrenees and more particularly in Ariège where it is studied closely in the Orlu National Reserve.
No protective character.
A magnificent and majestic plant endemic to the Pyrenees and the Massif Central. If you walk in our mountains, you can see it from late May to early July. Be careful, don't pick it, let it grow peacefully...
